Audition Step 1

ALL APPLICATIONS, SUPPORTING MATERIALS, AND PAYMENT MUST BE SUBMITTED BY MIDNIGHT ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2023.

Audition repertoire list. Please list  the title (including opus number, if applicable), movement titles, and composer of each piece, composer's dates, the duration of each piece, and the overall duration of the repertoire. This is the repertoire you will perform on March 20, 2021, should you be chosen as a finalist. Be sure your name appears at the top of this page.
- Instrumentalists’ and ensembles’ repertoire should consist of 60-70 minutes of music.
- Vocalists’ repertoire should consist of 45-60 minutes of music.
PLEASE NOTE: Selections should reflect programmatic diversity (baroque, classical, romantic, and contemporary) and should demonstrate the applicant’s breadth of technical and artistic abilities.

Your bio or resume, in paragraph (prose) form, highlighting your education, major accomplishments, performances, and reviews.

Printed programs of two full-length concert performances within the last two years. Scans (PDFs or JPGs) are preferred. Photos are acceptable, but must be clear. Imagery of the entire printed program must be included. Because Covid-19 eliminated many performances, substitutions will be considered. 

Two letters of recommendation from professional musicians, one of whom is your current or former teacher, addressing your musical strengths and performance abilities. Recommendations need not be private, but it is preferable.  Emails may be sent o: auditions@apsmusic.org

Recording. Your recording must contain between 20-25 minutes of music with varied repertoire displaying your ability and versatility. Each movement or individual piece should be a separate sub-file and labeled clearly. THESE RECORDINGS MUST BE THE SAME REPERTOIRE SUBMITTED IN THE REPERTOIRE LIST IN YOUR APPLICATION DOCUMENTS.   

Repertoire selections must be unedited; however, long pauses, applause and/or lengthy musical introductions must be edited out. FILES MUST NOT INCLUDE IDENTIFYING INFORMATION, INCLUDING PERSONAL INTRODUCTIONS. PLEASE BE SURE THAT ALL PERSONAL INFORMATION IS EDITED OUT OF ALL INDIVIDUAL TRACK INFORMATION. APS strives to maintain professionalism and objectivity. Your recordings will be screened for musicianship and technical ability by professional musicians of the highest caliber. Submission of high-quality recordings will be to your advantage.

Acceptable file types are:     .aac   .m4a   .mp3   .oga   .wav

Files must preview as audio. No video files are acceptable. Links to YouTube, etc., are not acceptable. Tapes, CDs, and DVDs will also not be accepted.

A non-refundable audition fee of $100 will be handled through the Acceptd application.

 

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE TO FINAL AUDITIONS ON MARCH 26 WILL BE MADE BY MIDNIGHT ON FEBRUARY 22, 2023. YOUR RESPONSE IS EXPECTED WITHIN 48 HOURS OF NOTIFICATION. Those not accepted to finals will also be notified at this time. (Notification will be via email from auditions@apsmusic.org.)
