Final competition is on SATURDAY, MARCH 1, 2025. A photo ID must be provided upon check-in for age verification.
Final competition will be held in the Lee Theater of the Touhill Performing Arts Center
at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (open to the public).
REPERTOIRE AND REQUIREMENTS
The final competition repertoire should consist of all movements of the multi-movement work or arias/ song cycle as presented in your application. Your music should be memorized and performed with an accompanist.
The duration of the performance will be 20 minutes. You will begin with the first movement of your concerto /aria. The judges will ask for excerpts from each movement or aria. Performers should expect to move quickly to a different movement. Come ready to play the whole concerto/ all three arias or song cycle.
A list of possible local pianists will be provided, if needed. All arrangements will be between the finalist and the local accompanist contacted.
A list of concertos and arias that the two orchestras have played in the past three years will be posted here soon. Those pieces cannot be used for this competition.
NOTIFICATION
Two winners will be announced at the end of the day. The time of the announcement will depend on the number of competitors who are performing and will be set prior to auditions day. All competitors are invited to be there but it is not a requirement.
The presentation of the $4,000 cash award and $500 travel stipend is made to each winner at the conclusion of his/her successful performance in the 2025-2026 season.
An Honorable Mention Award of $1,500 will be presented on the competition day.
