APS Concert Season

Audition Step 1

ALL APPLICATIONS AND SUPPORTING MATERIALS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY MIDNIGHT ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 20, 2026.

Performance Repertoire -
Instrumentalists - a concerto or other major multi-movement work;
Singers - three arias (one in English), or song cycle with orchestral accompaniment.   Please list the title, movement titles and composer, composer’s dates, the duration of each movement and the overall duration of the piece. This is the repertoire you will perform on March 1, 2025, should you be chosen as a finalist.  Concertos and arias must have orchestral accompaniment available for purchase or rent.

These concertos will not be accepted:   

Piano: 
   Concerto No. 1 in Bb minor, Op. 23 by P. I. Tchaikovsky
   Concerto No. 4 in G minor, Op. 40 by S. Rachmaninoff
   Concerto No. 4 in G Major, Op. 58 by L. van Beethoven
   Concerto No. 21 by W. Mozart
   Concerto No. 1 in F# minor, Op.1 by S. Rachmoninoff
   Concerto in D minor by F. B. Price

Violin:
   Concerto by A. Dvorak
   Concerto in A minor by C. Schumann
   Concerto by L van Beethoven
   Symphonie Espagnole by E. Lalo
   Concerto in D Major, Op. 35 by P. I. Tchaikovsky

Cello:
   Concerto by A. Dvorak

Percussion:
    Concerto for Drum Set and Orchestra by J. Pastor Piano

Saxophone:
    Concerto for Alto Saxophone by Robert Muczynski

Clarinet:
  Concerto No. 2 in E flat Major, Op  74 by Carl Maria von Weber

 

Your bio or resume, in paragraph (prose) form, highlighting your education, major accomplishments, performances, and reviews.

Printed program of one full-length concert performance within the last two years.Scans (PDFs or JPGs) are preferred. Photos are acceptable, but must be clear. Imagery of the entire printed program must be included.

Two letters of recommendation from professional musicians, one of whom is your current or former teacher, addressing your musical strengths and performance abilities. Recommendations need not be private, but it is preferable.  Emails may be sent to: auditions@apsmusic.org

Video.  Applicants must submit a video of one movement of a standard, multi-movement, or large-scale, major work, or aria with piano accompaniment through Acceptd. Submissions with orchestral accompaniment will not be considered. Your performance must be memorized and unedited, however, long pauses and lengthy musical introductions must be edited out. Provide an internet link to your video. Your video will be screened for musicianship and technical ability by professional musicians of the highest caliber. Submission of a high-quality video will be to your advantage. 

There is no application fee -  a $125 fee will be charged to live-round finalists only. 

Notification of acceptance to the live-round competition on March 7 will be made by midnight on February 6, 2026. 
Your response and fee payment will be expected within 48 hours of notification.
Notification will be via email from
auditions@apsmusic.org.
